Point to Point / Broadband Solution, Secure Compliant Connectivity, Highly Scalable Solution
Customer: Coastal Orthopedics
Industry: Healthcare
The Situation
The client supports its health business infrastructure through broadband communications. Coastal Orthopedics (www.coastalorthopedics.com) was expanding operations and needed a point-to-point broadband solution that would deliver information very quickly and securely and scale to support that growth. This solution had to offer the flexibility to tailor functionality to their environment and develop custom connectivity that would deliver higher quality service. The client’s objective was to be able to communicate securely with its other facilities thru a broadband link while being able to increase the speed of this solution on demand.

The Solution
After a comprehensive evaluation and consultation process, a scalable highly reliable wireless communication link was to be delivered to Coastal Orthopedics. In order to meet the bandwidth requirements of their network, Sago Networks installed small radio towers, and Alvarion point-to-point equipment, initially linking them at 3 and 6 Megabit speeds. Additionally, within 48 to 72 hours after customer’s request, Sago was able to double bandwidth on demand, ensuring high levels of connectivity to medical equipment and workstations. Sago Networks used its construction and networking expertise to supplement the needs and available resources of the customer.

Result
The solution of the service provided effortless transport of the largest files between Coastal Orthopedics facilities with the low latency of a local internal network.

“Sago Networks enabled us to improve our productivity and responsiveness by supporting our office’s information infrastructure and improve the accuracy of our services,"
- Jim Needham, Coastal Orthopedic’s CEO

Radiology Solution
Industry: Healthcare

Company Description
The client has radiology facilities located in Venice, Sarasota, and Bradenton Florida. Axcess Diagnostics specializes in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Computed Tomography (CT), Positron Emission Tomography (PET), Digital Mammography, Ultrasound, and Digital Plain Film X-Ray. Managing patient information and providing timely access to such information is a critical part of Axcess Diagnostics quality service offering.

The Situation
Part of the client's long term needs were to store the overwhelming amount of patient-related data and image records throughout a secure connection into a Data Center for the client to access these records faster and more reliably. This procedure was part of Axcess Diagnostics strategy to strengthen its HIPAA compliance standards procedures. Their short-term solution was to find a secure location for their PACS server.

The Solution
Sago Networks took a technology approach in identifying the best solutions to meet both long and short term needs. Sago interviewed with the client's technical staff in order to understand what technologies were needed and what was required to integrate into the Client's key applications. These included digital imaging applications and digital medical records applications.
After gathering and analyzing the customer's needs, Sago Networks presented the client the most complete managed solutions called: SagoSAFE. Sago Networks connected a link from the client premise demarcation point and installed a hi-speed wireless connection and a secure VPN tunnel wirelessly back to Sago's Tampa Data Center. Sago delivered the total SagoSAFE solution from a level of control and management that meets the most demanding HIPAA requirements.

Result
"Clinicians and physicians and authorized staff now can rapidly access x-rays, radiology imagery, and other data instantly", said John Dague, Axcess Diagnostics IT Director. This reduces human error and improves the accuracy of the client's services. "Where it previously took 7 seconds to download one image at a time. We can now download all a patients' records in the same amount of time."
"Preserving the privacy of patient information is critical for healthcare providers, particularly over wireless links," said Mr Dague. Sago's Network can ensure that the data in completely segregated from any other public data.
