Newsletter for March 2008
| Sago Networks builds up its Gwinnett Presence In an age where weather or terror can strike a company's ability to
function, Sago Networks has quietly created a technologically advanced,
secure haven for companies from Atlanta to Miami.
According to Scott Kappler, COO for Sago, the company has acquired a
long-term lease to complete fiber coverage throughout most of
metropolitan Atlanta. In order to provide totally ubiquitous service to
the greater Atlanta area, Sago has installed its wireless network to
complement its ever-expanding fiber coverage.
Its CLEC (Competitive Local Exchange Carrier) status in Georgia and
Florida enables Sago to have access to all right-of-ways to provide
connectivity to any area. Consequently, this provides Sago with fiber
service to all major office buildings, shopping malls, hospitals and
major developed, multi-unit residential properties.
The company also maintains a data center here.
"Physical security is a big concern for many of our customers," says
Miller Cooper, founder and CEO of Sago Networks. "Our three data centers
in Atlanta, Tampa and Miami provide nearly 250,000 square-feet of
network operations and are designed to offer the fastest and largest
bandwidth of internet connectivity available today."
In 2005 Sago purchased the former Scientific Atlanta headquarters in
Norcross, a 100,000 square-feet facility. By the end of 2006, Sago had
built out nearly 25 percent of the facility. By the end of this year,
Cooper estimates a total of 50,000 square-feet of data center space will
be added in Norcross.
Included in the purchase of the Scientific Atlanta building were two
acres of contiguous land. Due to market demand, Cooper anticipates
building a second center on site to house an additional 50,000 square
feet of raised flooring, climate-controlled interiors and fiber
connectivity, currently at 10 GiG-E and scalable to virtually unlimited
capacity, to provide for Sago's expanding needs in Atlanta.
Impressively, Sago Networks has done much of its Georgia expansion under
the radar, with little fanfare. Cooper says his objective is to offer
affordable, automatic, off-site back-up and recovery service suites for
his clients, to keep their data safe from any disaster that may strike a
company's location.
The data centers in Norcross functions in a secure environment for IT
operations and storage of mission critical data for some of the largest
and most well-known companies in the U.S. Space is offered for network
administrators to install and monitor their own servers if desired, or
Sago's technicians and engineers will monitor and manage servers for all
levels and types of industries.
Sago also leases Executive IT Suites designed to be used as short,
medium or long-term facilities, branch offices or overflow space by all
types of businesses from blue chips to franchises.
Another core competency of Sago is the installation and configuration of
high-speed Internet access networks at no charge to a developer,
association or managing agent of apartment and condominium properties.
"We then charge a highly reduced rate for the monthly service which
allows the developer or management association to mark-up the service,
maintain competitive pricing, increase their revenue stream, and provide
an added amenity with no up-front costs or capital investment," says
Cooper. "This can literally amount to thousands of dollars of revenue
each month."
